California Parents for Public Virtual Education is excited to announce the findings of a recent survey of online-learning students. More than 600 families took the time to participate in our survey about how their students socialize with peers in an online public school environment and why digital learning works for them.
We produced a scrapbook that will be distributed to state policy-makers. It will provide them with a glimpse into the lives of the many diverse California online public school students.
While the public school choice movement is gaining strength in California, there is still much more progress to be made. Over the past few years, there have been several articles highlighting both the successes of online public schools in California and the efforts by some to deny access to alternative public education options. Despite its place as the base of technology and innovation in the world, California lags behind other states in supporting choice and access to innovative education options. By denying open access for students to enroll in online public schools, our state policy-makers are denying equal educational opportunities to our state’s student population. After all, we should be working together to do what’s best for all public education students in California.
Please take a few minutes to browse through our scrapbook and let us know what you think.
